How we compare

Every page on trendinus answers one question: which option should you book? This is exactly how we decide, and where our numbers come from.

Where the options come from

Today every option we list comes from Viator, the largest marketplace for tours and tickets. We read Viator's catalogue through its partner programme and build our own comparison from it. We plan to add more booking partners; when we do, this page will say so.

For an attraction page we only count options whose title names the attraction. A canal cruise that sails past a bridge is not a ticket for that bridge, even if the booking site links the two.

How we choose the top picks

Only well-rated options can be a top pick: at least 4.3 stars and 50 reviews. If an attraction has fewer than three such options, we lower the bar to 4.0 stars and 10 reviews and say so on the page.

The sentence under each pick is the rule that chose it. Nobody chooses picks by hand, and nobody can pay to be one.

Which price we show

Booking sites usually advertise the lowest price of any age group, which is often a child price. We read each option's availability calendar instead and show the price one adult pays when booking for one or two people.

Prices change by date. We show a typical low price across the coming months, not a single unusual date: a one-off promotion on three days next year will not become the headline price. Private tours priced per group are labelled "per group". The final price for your date is always the one on the booking site.

Entrance fees

For each option we check the operator's itinerary, which states for every stop whether admission is included. Options that include it are marked "Entry included"; options that do not are marked "+ entrance fee", so a cheap tour that leaves you queuing for tickets does not look cheaper than it is.

How fresh the data is

We re-read the catalogue regularly and every comparison page shows the date its prices were last checked. Ratings, review counts and "likely to sell out" labels come from the booking site at that time.

What we do not do

How we earn money

When you click "Check availability" and book, the booking site pays us a commission. You pay the same price as booking directly. Commission rates are the same for every option, so they cannot push one pick over another. Affiliate disclosure
